Overview of the Global Health Partnership formerly THET Project at the University of Hargeisa
The Global Health Partnership, formerly known as the THET Project, is a transformative initiative funded by the Global Health Partnership and implemented through a collaboration between the University of Hargeisa, the University of Nairobi, and the Ministry of Health Development, Somaliland. The initiative aims to strengthen nursing and midwifery education, enhance professional development, and build sustainable research capacity in Somaliland.
The project is structured around three key work packages:
- Co-design of Master’s Program Curricula
Joint development of three specialized Master of Science programs:- Emergency, Trauma, and Critical Care Nursing
- Pediatric Nursing
- Midwifery
- Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Training
Implementation of targeted CPD courses to support the ongoing learning and skills enhancement of healthcare workforce. - Research Capacity Building
Strengthening research skills and infrastructure through training in:- Quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Data analysis
- Grant writing and proposal development
This partnership is advancing the quality of nursing and midwifery education in Somaliland, developing a competent and research-oriented health workforce aligned with national health priorities.
