Overview of the BSU IV Project at the University of Hargeisa

The Building Stronger Universities (BSU) IV project is a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing the capacity of the University of Hargeisa (UoH) to deliver high-quality education, research, and community engagement. Supported by Danida, this project is part of a long-term partnership between UoH and University of Copenhagen, Roskilde University and University of Southern Denmark focusing on strengthening institutional frameworks and fostering sustainable development in Somaliland.

Launched in December 2023, BSU IV prioritizes building robust academic programs, enhancing research infrastructure, and integrating innovative teaching methods to address pressing societal challenges. Core components of the project involves capacity development in public policy and governance, maternal and child health, vector borne diseases, administrative frameworks, post graduate education and digital education.

Through collaborative workshops, stakeholder engagement, and capacity-building activities, BSU IV emphasizes the importance of inclusivity, evidence-based approaches, and sustainability in advancing education and research excellence at UoH. This initiative not only strengthens the university’s role as a leading academic institution in the region but also contributes to the broader development of Somaliland.
